Nynke Scherpbier-de Haan is the head of the department of Primary and Long-term Care in Groningen[AE1] . A practicing GP since 1994, she initially ran a general practice in Santpoort-Noord until 2004. She later worked as a salaried GP in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region, served as a GP instructor, researcher, and director of postgraduate primary care training at Radboud University Medical Center. Her PhD focused on organizing care for chronic kidney disease, during which she developed and implemented Telenephrology. Her career has been centered around cross-institutional and interprofessional collaboration in both care and education. Since 2021, she has been expanding this focus in and around Groningen.

As department head, I am dedicated to promoting cohesion in healthcare. In the North, we play a crucial role in ensuring sustainably accessible, high-quality primary care through our research, training, and education. We achieve this together with our GP network (AHON), Elderly Care Network (UNO), and our academic general practice.

I serve on the authorization committee for the standards of the Nederlands Huisartsen Genootschap (NHG, Dutch College of General Practitioners). For training, I am a member of the Capaciteitsorgaan, and I represent the Concilium voor de Huisartsopleiding (Concilium for GP training) as well as EURACT, the European organization for general practice training.
