He completed his training as a general practitioner at Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen. There, he combined his General Practice training with research, completing a PhD track focused on self-management in COPD and COPD exacerbations. Since 2009, he has been working as an academic GP at the University Health Center Heyendael on the campus of Radboud University Medical Center. As of September 1st 2024, Erik also serves as head of the department of General Practice at Erasmus MC. He finds it meaningful to be part of different phases of a patient\u2019s life \u2013 sometimes in the foreground, sometimes in the background. For Eric, the patient is the focus: he strongly believes in delivering personalized care, attuned to what each person needs at that moment in their life. Erik strives for strong collaboration within the network to better address the challenges that general practice care faces, such as the growing demand for care and the shortage of
